1. Increase your water intake
The majority of people do not realize just how important drinking water is in terms of losing weight. H20 does SO many amazing things to your body that it’s difficult to know where to start. Water actually fills you up which means that you won’t eat as much when it comes to meal times and you will not unnecessarily snack either. It’s worth mentioning that many people think they are hungry when they are in fact thirsty. In addition to this, water makes your skin clearer and flushing antioxidants from your body, who doesn’t want to experience those benefits? To make your water more interesting, why not add some ice-cubes and a slice of lemon or lime
2. Get your body moving
You definitely do not need to run a marathon or even join a gym in order to lose a significant amount of weight, just get your body moving more than what you usually would. Cardio is the best thing you can do to lower your actual body fat percentage because it’s all about sweating and increasing your heart rate. This means doing things like walking, running, cardio-based workout DVD’s or even just putting on your favorite tunes and dancing around your home. In addition to cardio, toning exercises can give you the definition that you want and can also be pretty fun. One thing that many of use struggle with is our middle area, so check out the following page to discover the best moves for targeting your muffin top!
3. Don’t eat out of boredom
So many people eat simply because it is something to do and don’t even think it counts if they are just grazing. How many times have you eat a bag of chips simply because they are there and you have nothing else to do? Everything you put into your mouth is going to impact your body so really think about what you are doing. Keep yourself busy to keep your mind off food if you know that you are not really hungry. Read a book, watch a movie or even go for a walk – this will really make all the difference. In addition to boredom, many people also eat when they are sad or feeling low. Emotional eating is common but remember that food isn’t going to make you feel better, in fact an unhealthy lifestyle will make you feel worse in the long run. Tackle the root cause and find another (healthy) way to let out your emotions other than eating.
4. See what works for you in terms of “diets”
There are a whole bunch of diets out there, some of them work and some of them don’t. I do not recommend any drastic diets that involve starving yourself because they are SO unhealthy for you and not maintainable in the long-term. Saying that, there are some diets out there that could work for you. For example, The Military Diet is designed to burn calories because you eat less than you burn for three days a week.
5. Substitute the bad for the good
Obviously, it’s really difficult to eat healthy all the time which is the main reason why many diets fail. To have success however in terms of losing weight and keeping it off, you do need to make some healthy changes to the food that you consume. Try and limit the amount of junk/processed food that you are eating. It’s also important to eat as many fruits, vegetables and protein as possible. Fueling your body with GOOD foods will mean that it will function as it should for weight loss and it will also improve your mood. Trying different recipes in the kitchen will make this more fun for you.
6. Cut down your portions and eat slowly
Many people eat more than what they really need to because they put too much on their plate and they eat their meals without even pausing for breath in between mouthfuls. We are taught from a young age to eat everything that’s on our plate because who likes wasting food right? As a general rule, a meal should be no larger than the size of your clenched fist especially when trying to drop pounds. Eating slowly will also give your brain a chance to tell your stomach that it’s full which will stop you going back for seconds!
7. Make sure that you are getting enough sleep
This might sound like a silly point but sleep is actually really important for weight loss. Getting the full 8-10 hours a night will speed up your metabolism and will also help to starve off the midnight munchies, which many of us are guilty of.
Now that you know how to lose weight without counting calories, what are you waiting for? Stop stalling and just get out there and do it. You can get the body you have always wanted without too much effort at all. It’s all about discovering what works for you and finding a healthy balance in terms of meals, fitness and so on. A positive mental attitude and a little bit of work is all you need for most things in life and losing weight is no different.
